- Step 1: Get your Google Analytics 4 Measurement ID & Google secret key
- Step 2: Enable Google Analytics in Enquiry Tracker
- Step 3: Set Event Labels
- Step 4: Test your form
Enquiry Tracker supports Google Analytics 4, which will allow schools to track ET forms that are submitted for events etc. This feature requires a couple of steps to gather the necessary information.
| Tip: It is recommended you have a separate Google Analytics account to track Enquiry Tracker form submissions, otherwise traffic to these pages may be counted twice and, as a result, may skew your data |
Step 1: Get your Google Analytics 4 Measurement ID & Google secret key
- Sign in to your Google Analytics account
- Click Admin
- Next, click on the Account Access Management
- Next, click on the Data Streams
- Next, click on All > Web stream details
- Here, you can find the Measurement ID, which is formatted like G-123456
- Copy and store this value as you will need to enter it in Enquiry Tracker
- In the same screen, Go to the Additional Settings section where you can find Measurement Protocol API secrets
- Click on Measurement Protocol API secrets & create a new API secret by providing a nickname.
- Copy the secret value and store this value as you will need to enter it in Enquiry Tracker
Step 2: Enable Google Analytics in Enquiry Tracker
To enable this in Enquiry Tracker, do the following
- Go to ADMIN > APP INTEGRATION
- Select GA4 for Select Integration option
- Enter the Google Analytics Measurement ID
- Enter in your Secret Key
Once a valid ID has been entered, you will be able to Enable Event Label for Google Analytics.
Step 3: Set Event Labels
Each of the Enquiry Tracker forms has a default Event Label. The labels are visible on each form under ADMIN>SIGNUP FORMS, but only once the option above has been turned on.
The default values are:
- Event form:TourFormSubmission
- Prospectus form:ProspectusFormSubmission
- General Enquiry form:GeneralFormSubmission
If you want to change these to something else you can do it for each form and those values will be passed through to Google Analytics as the Event Label
Step 4: Test your form
Note that when testing your form and viewing the data in Google Analytics note that:
- The Form Name is used for Event Category
- The Event Action is the Event Label entered on each corresponding form
| Tip: Enquiry Tracker also support UTM parameters to track campaigns, see Tracking campaigns in Google Analytics |
